ACS Public Policies

The American Cetacean Society supports and endorses the use of biopsy dart technology to obtain skin and blubber samples from free ranging marine mammals. This endorsement is only given when permitted and supervised by the U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA Fisheries, or the U.S. Department of Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The American Cetacean Society does not endorse any particular organization or individual in their efforts to obtain a research permit to use this technology.
