Our trips provide a unique combination of adventure and tranquility, with abundant opportunities to see whales and other wildlife.

The Basecamp trip is a quality, customizable adventure, full of opportunities to see gray whales and other cetaceans, and a variety of birds and wildlife which inhabit the San Ignacio Lagoon.  More read more on this topic

BAJA LAGOONS AND SEA OF CORTEZ
San Diego to Cabo San Lucas

Our popular 12-day trip aboard the vessel Searcher from San Diego, CA to San Ignacio Lagoon, Magdalena Bay, and the Sea of Cortez with many stops along the way for viewing island, coastal and underwater wildlife. This is the trip of a lifetime - spend time with the friendly gray whales of San Ignacio Lagoon, then travel along the southern tip of the Baja peninsula looking for the great whales. The magnificent blue whale, the acrobatic humpback, and the sleek fin whale are all commonly seen in the Sea of Cortez. --  More read more on this topic

"Bowriding bottlenose dolphins and trains of gray whales escorted us into San Ignacio Lagoon" ... [more] "from whales to angelfish..."

"We left the island just after lunch, and an hour later started following a massive blue whale that brought its immense fluke high out of the water every time it dove"...[more] from Linda Lewis' 2002 trip report

about the boat -

The m/v Searcher is a 95-foot twin engine, well-equipped boat with 14 air-conditioned cabins, 4 shared baths, a large comfortable salon with a library, and wildlife observation decks on the stern, upper deck, and in the bow area. For more info - visit the Searcher web site.

ACS Whale Adventures reward passengers with a great learning vacation and the satisfaction of knowing that a portion of your vacation dollars is used to fund education, conservation and research about whales, dolphins and porpoises. Priced competitively with for-profit outfitters, our Whale Adventures provide experienced naturalists who are your guides on nature walks, snorkels and whale watches, and present slide lectures in the evenings. We also provide an extensive syllabus to help you learn about and appreciate the incredible wilderness of Baja.
